Inspired by the haunting emotional landscape of Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart, Frenemy explores the beautifully complicated contradictions of being human. Because within all of us exists the capacity to be both saint and sinner, jury and executioner, lover and destroyer.
We can be our own fiercest champion one moment and our harshest critic the next. We can build ourselves up only to question everything we have built. Frenemy embraces that tension, exploring the depths of the human psyche, our relationships with one another and the often contradictory nature of the world around us. The collection moves between light and shadow. Delicate, ethereal tones represent those moments when we feel connected, hopeful and almost saintly, while deeper, more powerful shades reveal the darker side of humanity – our insecurities, impulses, obsessions and the parts of ourselves we don’t always like to acknowledge.
It is a visual journey along the fine line between pleasure and pain, love and loss, friendship and rivalry, vulnerability and strength.
Fluid forms bring an almost dreamlike quality to the design, their ethereal movement creating a sense of suspension and uncertainty.
